The UKT is located in the countryside of Finnish Lapland,
a few kilometers from
the Arctic Circle. Our wooded campus is situated on the "Outer Peninsula"
- the "Ulkuniemi" of our name - which extends out into the Kemijärvi lake and is
connected to the mainland by
two charming causeways.
In this natural setting, we are surrounded by forests,
small farms and fells, and
most of all, the water which reflects the light of the sky.

At Midsummer (Summer Solstice)
we enjoy the
special beauty of the MIDNIGHT SUN. |

And during the Winter, our landscape
becomes a white canvas of snow and ice, which the low colorful winter
sun sculpts into exquisite winterscapes....

At this time, during our deep cold nights
the "Revontulet"
- Aurora Borealis - can magically appear, lighting up the nightime sky with entrancing light shows.
One simply never knows exactly
when a beautiful natural phenomenon will occur, but the photo-archive has recorded a few.

How best to get here? There is rail service to Kemijärvi 26 km to the north, and an airport in Rovaniemi about 86km from Kemijärvi with a direct bus service to the Kemijärvi bus station, scheduled for the arrival and departure times of many flights.
